Fronius Inverters
Fronius International GmbH is an Austrian company, based in Pettenbach, Upper Austria.
It is an international company with a 65 year history in the manufacture of welding equipment and nearly two decades of experience with solar inverters and other devices for monitoring and controlling energy, including battery chargers. Fronius inverters are suitable for a wide range of applications, including residential solar and commercial solar projects.
Fronius inverters are manufactured in Austria, and include the impressive Galvo and Symo 3 phase range.
The Galvo is not just an inverter it is also an energy management system.With power categories ranging from 1.5 to 3.1kW, the Fronius Galvo Inverter is perfect for households – and is especially suitable for self-consumption systems.
The Symo is a compact three-phase inverter designed for maximum flexibility. Boasting power categories ranging from 3.0 to 20.0 kW, the transformerless Fronius Symo is the three-phase inverter for systems of every size. The high system voltage, wide input voltage range and two MPP trackers ensure maximum flexibility in system design.
The Fronius Galvo and Symo Inverters all incorporate the following impressive features: WLAN System Monitoring, monitor your system from anywhere in the world in real time using smartphones, tablets and PC’s all at no extra cost. Energy Management Functionality, the integrated energy management relay allows the self-consumption component to be maximised by directing power to run a specific appliance such as a pool pump when there is sufficient solar energy to do so. They also include plug-in card technology for retrofitting additional functions.
Fronius has an Australia office and service centre in Tullamarine, Victoria. Fronius inverter come with a standard 5 year product warranty, plus 5 years parts warranty for a total warranty of 10 years.

SolarEdge Inverters
SolarEdge is a provider of power optimizer, solar inverter and monitoring solutions for photovoltaic arrays. These products aim to increase energy output through module-level MPPT. Founded in 2006, SolarEdge established the DC power optimizer segment and is leading it with over 70% market share.
A SolarEdge Power Optimizer is fitted under each solar panel which optimizes energy output by performing Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) individually for each panel and maintains a fixed DC string voltage. Power optimizers also collect performance measurements and telemetries of each panel, and transmit the data over existing power lines.
The SolarEdge solar inverter is responsible for DC to AC inversion while MPPT and voltage management are handled by power optimizers separately for each module. Fixed string voltage ensures operation at the highest efficiency at all times (98% maximum efficiency), independent of string length and temperature.
A web-based and iPhone applications provide module-level, string-level and system-wide PV Monitoring. The software provides alerts on a wide range of issues affecting energy generation that might otherwise go undetected. Data and alerts are presented on a virtual site map and can be pinpointed to specific location to reduce maintenance time and costs.
The SolarEdge system is excellent for installing solar panels on roofs with shade and / or installing solar panels on multiple roof facings, and can outperform other solar installations by up to 25%, for a faster return on investment. Recently in NREL designed independent testing, Solar Edge systems outperformed string and micro inverters.
